Oral Hygiene (Preventative Care)
Did you know that the American Dental Association (ADA) recommends flossing daily and brushing twice each day? We prefer to have our patients incorporate a regular regimen that involves daily brushing and flossing, and regularl dental check-ups.
Research has shown that even the standard six month check-up and cleaning is not best for everyone, so we tailor your care as needed. We bet that you did not know that pregnant women, people with diabetes, implants and many more other medical conditions need to come for hygiene visits every three months.
We make your visits as comfortable and through as possible using the best equipment and communicating with you along the way. We will be sure to address any special concerns you may have. Dental health can extend the human life 10 years.
Sealants a preventative procedure recommended for children and for adults who are prone to cavities. Decay is prevalent in back teeth because that is where deep grooves form on biting surfaces. Plaque collects in these grooves and causes cavities. To keep healthy teeth cavity free, sealants can be applied to the chewing surfaces. This prevents bacteria from sticking around long enough to cause damage.
Sealing teeth is quick and easy. Our hygiene staff simply brushes the quick-drying light cured liquid sealant onto the teeth, shines a light on it and the liquid hardens on top of the teeth. It is pain free and lasts for several years.
During your routine check-up you can discuss the option of sealants with your hygienist at Somers Dental Care, New Canaan Dentistry or Ridgefield Dental Arts.
